Central Committee Volunteer Opportunities

The Democratic Central Committee has established six committees to foster direct participation and enable everyone to become involved. Democrats and all other interested persons are invited to join the committee of your choice and participate as your life and time permits! Please contact the Chairs listed below to sign up or gather more information.

Communications Committee: Responsible for increasing the visibility of the Democratic Party in Garrett County, with priority examples including news releases and photographs, letters to the editor and elected officials, website content, newsletters, and mailing lists.

Elections Committee: Responsible for developing a credible field of individuals to run for each office in Garrett County elections, with priority examples including identification of candidates for the 2010 Primary and General Elections, holding candidate workshops, holding Meet The Democratic Candidate sessions, establishing Election Headquarters, and holding election night watch parties.

Events Committee: Responsible for coordinating participation in local events and festivals, with priority examples including the Autumn Glory parade float, Grantsville Days, Kitzmiller Days, Accident Homecoming, Garrett County Fair, Jefferson-Jackson Dinner, and other local events.

Fundraising Committee: Responsible for developing fundraising activities to help support the activities of the Garrett County Democratic Party, with priority examples including fundraising letters, seeking sponsors and donors for activities, and projects such as t-shirt and bumper sticker sales.

Voter Registration Committee: Responsible for increasing the opportunities to register as Democrats and to increase the number of registered Democrats in Garrett County, with priority examples including conducting outreach and coordinated voter registration drives across the County, identify and register unregistered voters and those who wish to change affiliation to Democrat, and identify events for registration activities.

Young Democrats Committee: Responsible for supporting and advising the Garrett County Young Democrats Club, with priority examples including programs and social activities, fundraising, and participation in community events such as the Garrett County Fair, Autumn Glory, Convention, and other activities of interest to young Democrats.
